Two seasons, no guaranteed weather

Tahiti Tourisme describes a generally drier period from May to October and a warmer, wetter period from November to April. Use that as a planning pattern for Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora, not a forecast for a specific day or every Polynesian archipelago. Rain can occur in the drier season; clear weather is possible in the wetter months.

Start with the activity you want

For lagoon outings, wind, swell and visibility matter as well as rainfall. Choose a stay long enough to give the operator some flexibility if conditions change. A land visit on Tahiti or Moorea can also be affected by rain and road conditions. Check the supplier’s cancellation terms before deciding how much flexibility you have.

Protect your connections

Avoid placing the last island transfer directly before an international departure without a sensible margin. Read the actual air or ferry itinerary, including stops, terminal and arrival time. Your hotel’s boat leg is another connection. A broadly favourable travel month does not remove the possibility of a service change.

Use the right forecast near departure

The weather page on this guide represents Papeete on Tahiti, in local time. It does not provide a marine forecast for Bora Bora or Moorea. Near the trip, consult Météo-France Polynésie and the operator’s instructions for your actual island and route. Do not treat a Papeete temperature card as permission to swim or proof that a boat can depart.

A useful order for booking

Choose the season and islands, check transport dates, then reserve stays and reachable activities. Keep the last transfer and airport route visible in the plan. Recheck notices close to departure: climatic averages describe a pattern; the operator makes the decision for the actual outing.
